Originally from Iowa, Dr. April J. Oxendale attended Drake University in Des Moines where she earned a degree in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology.  She spent the next few years working at a hospital in Des Moines.  In 2007, her career path changed and Dr. April moved to St. Louis, Missouri to attend Logan College of Chiropractic. 

Dr. April was a biochemistry tutor while at Logan.  She served as Educational Coordinator for her classmates throughout her entire Logan career.  As an EC she was responsible for keeping an open line of communication between professors and students.  She also served as a Clinician’s Assistant during her time in the outpatient clinics.  During her last trimester at Logan, Dr. April was an intern at the St. Louis VA Medical Center where she spent many hours adjusting veterans and gaining indispensable clinical experience and knowledge.

While at Logan, Dr. April received extensive training in muscular imbalances (Graston Technique®) making her a soft tissue specialist.  Soft tissue techniques include such things as muscle relaxation, active trigger point (muscle “knot”) therapy, myofascial release and muscle re-education. 

Dr. April has also obtained additional education in acupuncture.  Like chiropractic, acupuncture is an all natural, drug-free therapy, yielding no side effects.  It is a safe and effective form of healthcare that has evolved into a complete and holistic medical system.

Dr. April’s combined knowledge in acupuncture and soft tissue disorders makes her qualified to treat such conditions as fibromyalgia, chronic neck and shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, chronic low back pain, tension headaches, osteoarthritis,  indigestion and sleep disturbances.

Dr. April is excited to be serving the people of Norfolk and surrounding communities.  Dr. April is happy to now be offering both Graston and acupuncture services at Creekwood Chiropractic Clinic.
